On a quiet September night, tragedy struck along the busy corridors of Interstate 82. Jorge G. Estrada Martinez, a 29-year-old man from Sunnyside, was standing on the shoulder of the highway when a devastating accident occurred. 


The incident unfolded around 10:25 p.m. near Exit 69, a stretch of road often traveled by commuters and travelers alike. 

According to authorities, the crash was caused when Felix Angiano, a 31-year-old driver, entered the highway from the on-ramp and veered unexpectedly toward the shoulder where Martinez was standing.

Witnesses describe that Angiano’s Honda Pilot drifted onto the shoulder in an uncontrolled manner, ultimately striking Martinez with force. 

The impact was sudden and tragic, leaving no doubt about the severity of the collision. Emergency responders arrived promptly to the scene, but despite their swift efforts to save him, Martinez’s injuries were too severe.
