It was after the first collision when people stepped from their vehicles, some to help, some still in shock, that another Chevy pickup tore through the scene, leaving 19-year-old Gideon M. Capitano fatally struck inside his Ford.

It was immediately after the initial collision that chaos and confusion erupted along North Perkins Ferry Road. People began to step out of their vehicles, some rushing to aid the injured, others standing in stunned silence, trying to process the sudden and violent event.

The scene was a mixture of urgency and shock—emergency responders arriving swiftly, their sirens piercing the night air, as bystanders looked on with concern.

Amidst the turmoil, a second tragedy unfolded that would forever alter the lives of everyone involved.

Capitano had been involved in the initial crash but was still inside his vehicle when the second truck struck him. The force of the impact was severe, and witnesses later described the scene as heartbreaking.

Emergency personnel worked tirelessly to extricate Capitano from the wreckage, and he was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that night.

Authorities quickly began to piece together what had happened. They determined that the initial crash occurred around 9 p.m., when a Toyota SUV attempted an illegal pass on North Perkins Ferry Road.

This reckless maneuver led to a head-on collision with a Ford vehicle, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The Ford was struck directly by the SUV, causing a violent wreck that left the drivers shaken
