It was nearly four hours after the likely time of death when police were called to a home on Pritchard Street and found the bodies of Lashonda Lawrence and Tavious Antwon Spencer. Authorities say Spencer, 36, shot Lawrence, 38, before taking his own life sometime Thursday morning.

Authorities say Spencer, 36, shot Lawrence, 38, before taking his own life sometime Thursday morning. 

The Milledgeville Police Department described the tragedy as isolated to that residence and confirmed no further threat to the public. 

Both victims’ remains were transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Macon for autopsies, which are expected to bring more clarity about the sequence of events. 

Detectives continue to gather evidence, interview potential witnesses, and trace the circumstances that led to the deaths. The unanswered questions leave neighbors and loved ones searching for understanding, while the community extends sympathy for the loss of two lives cut short.
